The role reports to the Operations Manager and is located in Evansville, Indiana.

Your responsibilities

  • Performs miscellaneous operations involving broad machine shop experience. Operates all types of machine tools involving close tolerance work, intricate setups, and development. Dismantles, assembles, diagnoses, and corrects mechanical trouble on electrical and mechanical equipment such as turbines, motors, generators, transformers, etc. Machines or builds parts from samples or drawings. Perform related duties as assigned. May direct others
  • May construct or repair various components using welding methods such as GMAW, GTAW, SMAW, etc
  • May dynamic balance and aid engineers at special tests, trial and acceptance runs, etc
  • Actively follows HSE (Environmental, Health & Safety) compliance guidelines
Your background

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience
  • Must be able to read mechanical prints & drawings
  • Must be proficient in operating manual machine tools such as lathes & milling machines
  • Must be proficient in using a variety of hand measuring devices such as micrometers
  • Must have previous welding experience
  • Must be able to work overtime as needed
  • Must have good communication skills both written and verbal
  • Must be able to travel as needed
  • Must be computer literate
  • Demonstrated ability to work with other technicians properly
  • Ability to read an interpret electrical drawings
  • Previous experience with machining heavy-industry electrical equipment
  • Demonstrated ability to properly operate cranes and rig load for safe movements
  • Demonstrated ability to work with Quality & HSE leaders in regards to their job functions
  • Self-starter and able to work with minimal direction
  • Willing to work long hours, weekends, and various shifts when needed
  • Willingly accepts job challenges
  • Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US
