Description

The Maintenance Technician is an essential part of the maintenance team that completes maintenance of the machinery, equipment, and building/facility.This includes Machines such as Glass Washers, Tapers, Wrappers, Palletizers, Fillers, Cappers, Bottle Erectors, Conveyors, etc.. and HVAC, building lighting systems.

MEASURES OF SUCCESS

  • Perform electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and/or mechanical troubleshooting and repairs on manufacturing or plant equipment.
  • Basic shop skills that include welding/metal fabrication
  • Support maintenance program including preventative maintenance programs, HVAC, electrical, and repair of buildings and equipment
  • Respond to urgent maintenance calls
  • Maintain the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition and follow prescribed safety regulations including lockout/tagout, confined space, hot work, etc.
  • Schedule and/or perform preventative maintenance on machinery and the building or grounds
  • Work with preventive maintenance schedule program for equipment and machinery
  • Read blueprints, understand plumbing, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems.
  • Uses hand tools, power tools, and testing instruments to repair and maintain production equipment and ancillary equipment.
  • Follows established safety and environmental policies and procedures and promotes continuous improvement of safety and environmental performance in the workplace.

IDEAL CANDIDATE ATTRIBUTES

  • High School Diploma and Trade School. 2-year Technical Degree in Industrial Maintenance is preferred
  • 3-5 years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Effectively communicates with others in a manner which promotes a team environment
  • Demonstrated mechanical and electrical knowledge and repair abilities
  • Experience with Pumps, Valves, and plumbing.
  • Experience with product manuals (reading and applying knowledge to make repairs.)
  • Experience with troubleshooting mechanical breakdowns
  • Experience with reading mechanical drawings.
  • Ability to troubleshoot basic electrical systems (starters, fuses, contacts, relays.)
  • Experience with schematics (electrical blueprints with switches, starters, maps, and relays.)
  • The ability to communicate issues while also conveying the solutions as well.
  • Ability to perform preventive maintenance according to published guidelines.
  • Ability to repair, dismantle, install, or move machinery and mechanical equipment.
  • Ability to test systems and/or operations in compliance with published standards.
  • Ability to accurately use rulers, calipers, micrometers, and other related measuring tools.
  • Ability to use hand and power tools applicable to trade.
  • Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures
  • Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Work is performed in a manufacturing and warehouse environment with periodic visits to the office environment
  • Hours will be first shift business hours average at least 40 hours a week. There may be some variation in work hours due to training schedule, overtime, special projects, deadlines, and other concerns.
  • Use of scissors lifts to perform work at high locations in the facility.
  • Exposed to any number of elements, but none present to the extent of being disagreeable.
  • Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate and high is some areas.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds with or without accommodation.
